Add Image Border, free in your browser
Frame a JPG, PNG, or WebP image with a solid color border. Adjust the border color and width, review the preview, and download a new image without changing the original.
How to add a border to an image
- Choose a JPG, PNG, or WebP image.
- Set the border color and width, then review the preview.
- Apply the border and download the new image.
Limits & good to know
- JPG, PNG, and WebP images up to 50 MB and 50 megapixels are supported. Animated WebP uses its first frame.
- Border width is 0% to 20% of the source width. The output adds that many pixels to every side and may reach 75 megapixels.
- The result keeps the source format and removes EXIF and other embedded metadata.
Frequently asked questions
- Are my files uploaded to a server?
- Your files are processed on your device, not uploaded to our servers. Your file and edits are saved in this browser for recovery, and previous documents remain in Saved drafts when you open another file. Use Saved drafts to resume or delete individual copies, or clear this site’s browser data to remove all copies. Browser storage can be cleared or become unavailable; download important work.
- Does the border change the image dimensions?
- Yes. It adds equal padding on every side, so both output dimensions increase by twice the border width.
- Does adding a border change the original image?
- No. The result is a new file, and the original stays unchanged.
- Is this really free, or free "until you hit a limit"?
- Really free. Unlike most "free" PDF sites there is no task-per-day cap, no locked Pro features, no watermark stamped on your file, and no payment step before download. Every tool is the full tool.
