- Compare page counts, page dimensions, text, and layout visually; no comparison copy is uploaded.
Limits & good to know
- Each PDF may be up to 200 MB; the combined limit is 300 MB to protect browser memory.
- Selectable text changes are marked on each matching page; scan images, layout shifts, annotations, and hidden objects still need visual review.
- Password-protected PDFs must be unlocked before comparison.
- Documents are limited to 300 pages each; large files may be slower on lower-memory devices.
Frequently asked questions
- Are my files uploaded to a server?
- Your files are processed on your device, not uploaded to our servers. Your file and edits are saved in this browser for recovery, and previous documents remain in Saved drafts when you open another file. Use Saved drafts to resume or delete individual copies, or clear this site’s browser data to remove all copies. Browser storage can be cleared or become unavailable; download important work.
- Does it detect changed text?
- It marks additions and removals in selectable PDF text. Scanned text, image changes, layout shifts, annotations, and hidden objects still need visual review.
- Can I compare PDFs with different page counts?
- Yes. The tool reports the count difference and shows a clear missing-page message when one version has no matching page.
- Is this really free, or free "until you hit a limit"?
- Really free. Unlike most "free" PDF sites there is no task-per-day cap, no locked Pro features, no watermark stamped on your file, and no payment step before download. Every tool is the full tool.
